Glenshee...
Ok... so i've been back from Glenshee for almost 2 weeks now... i think i'm still recovering to be honest. I'm still knackered - but it was great... It was a lot harder than previous years - just coz moving 50 people about is surprisingly harder than 39 - you wouldn't think that an extra 10 people or so would make a difference, but it really did. heh.

We had a new activity this year - the centre had had a new zipwire installed since we were last their last February - ok so it wasn't completely my cup of tea (don't really like heights all that much) - but the young folks loved it and i even thought it was... well interesting. lol.

But yeh - the weekend teaching was based on changing the world... we had studies from the old testament and the new testament... and we even had Evan Almighty in to help us... lol. Challenging for us all.

One of my favourite things of the weekend though (well perhaps the aftermath of it) is that young folks who never usually go to church or anything are enthusiastic about God, and singing 'God songs' and trying to live for Him! One of the Fave songs over the weekend was 'Prince of Peace' which is the second song on the video below... the yp just love it - and they got to teach it to the church too who i have to say did a FAB attempt at it last sunday morning! So yes... another successfull weekend... but have a look at the video and see what you think for yourself?

That aside... Mum, Fi and Hollie are down for the weekend =) Mum 'n I just took the dogs out for a walk and I have to say that they are both out for the count - so i think mum and I are going to cut our losses and walk up the road to one of the local coffee shops for lunch and cake *grins* I have a meeting tonight though =( -sad times- but they're dog sitting so its all kl =) Hopefully i won't be tooooo late =)

Christianity Explored

So... right... at work I'm currently going along to the 'Christianity Explored' course - obviously not because i don't know who Jesus is *heh* but just coz we're hoping to create a group for my age roughly out of it... it's been good. Working our way through the Gospel of Mark - and there are some folk who are actually there's to explore the Christian faith - so it makes the discussions really interesting.

Anyway - I was in the city centre today and the Tron Church which is right in the centre on Buchanan Street is getting renovated at the moment.. and while i was walking down the road I was turning the corner and saw that they had some sort of huge advert on the scaffolding on the back of the church... all i saw to start with was '...surance' and wondered to myself 'that's odd a church advertising a secular insurance company' but when i saw the advert in full view it made me smile loads... I thought i was rather clever!!! hehehe... surely folks walking around that Church aren't missing THAT advert!!! C'mon for indirect evangelism!!!! *grins*

Anyway - i'm slowly getting myself sorted for Glenshee this weekend - tomorrow is gonna be my day for finalising my talk for Saturday evening etc though... so it's all good =)

Linda over and out...

Hectic...
Things are rather hectic here in Glasvegas at the moment if truth be told... time seems to be disappears sooo fast!!! I'm feeling a bit more calm today though as i've actually managed to have a productive afternoon relatively free of interruption... I have 3 meetings tonight tho - all running into one kind of big meeting. Crazy biscuits. and afterwards we're meant to be going for Curry.

... I'd quite like to sleep actually. that would be nice.

Anyway - so trying really hard to get everything on track for Glenshee this weekend... Kids are hyper, always a good sign. I've managed to get a lot of the little things sorted today, which is good. Got the minor *cough* matter of sorting out 2 of the sessions one of which i'm speaking at... i know what's happening pretty much - but really need to sort the details. ooo and i need to get a guitar strap. I keep forgetting. Someone remind me before the weekend please?
ooo and DV tapes for the camera... hmm i wonder where the camera is...

I have a distinct feeling that i'm going to get there this weekend and have forgotten something 'important'. heh.

Snow in Glasgow...

Loooooook - we had snow!!!! I fear it may be gone by the morning however as it was kinda raining tonight when i got back from GB... But we've had snow none-the-less and the yp have loved it!

As you can see, Abbie also loved it!!! We had some snow last week... which left rather quickly... but on Sunday night we had loads of snow which fell over a couple of hours while we were at Elevate - needless to say, after the event finished the yp and leaders had a wonderful time having a massive snowball fight.. =D And i know that a lot of my yp have been out in the snow every day after school playing and sledging since... So yeh... all in all they've been having a wonderful time... Not quite the same amount of snow which is parr for the course in Kemnay - but a decent amount all the same.. Am hoping that we'll have a decent amount of snow etc for our youth weekend in Glenshee next weekend too which is looking likely... Going up the big hills for sledging and snow ball fights are often a highlight for many of the young people as they just don't get snow as deep etc here in B'briggs.

BUt yes.. it's been a busy while of late... I think Abbie is managing to keep up with me, just... LOL... We were 'child-sitting' for a couple of the parents at church on Friday evening after the BB, so that was good... although by 1am Abbie just wanted to sleep - bless her... she is very cute when she's sleeping tho LOL.

I was at GB this evening... was really good. One of the officers and I are doing the Spiritual Badge work at the moment and it's been really encouraging. The girls are really responding to what we're doing... I discovered at the beginning of the series that somehow 4 of the girls had managed to be in the Brigader's section (S1-S6) without bibles... this usually doesn't happen coz they all get bibles when they go from the Explorer section (P1-3) to the Junior section (P4-7)... but these girls hadn't been explorers and for some reason it had never come to light before that they didn't have bibles which surprised me somewhat... So i managed to get them some youth bibles and have been really pleased to see them remembering to take them for the sessions each week and using them... hopefully that'll continue!

It's certainly all fun and games in the land of Linda...

O the memories...
it's been far too long since I've been updating on here... for that I apologise.. It's been a couple of interesting months with some ups and some downs... First I want to mention my grandparents: Granny and Didie...

You may remember that 3 years ago (to this day actually) Didie passed away after a relatively short battle with cancer... However just over a week ago Granny also passed away. I've missed Didie... His cheeky grin and his tendency to play with my hair... I always remember the last cheeky grin he gave me before I came back to Glasgow after my last visit to see him before he died. And i'm going to miss Granny too. I'm going to remember the good times like she asked.

It's odd... I was still at college when Didie died, and I was at a 'girls group' with some of the other females from the college dorms just the night before Didie died... And we had to take along something which was special to us... I took along my picture album. I have pictures of Granny and Didie in there and during that evening I realised how lucky i was to still have all four grandparents... Now I just have 2. I know that life goes on... but it doesn't change the fact that every so often you wish you were back in those Sunday afternoon visits to see you grandparents and cousins... happy times. Just goes to show, we shouldn't take our time here on earth for granted.

Anyway - like i said there's been up's and down's... there's been a lot of exciting stuff happening in the world of TLT over the past while... we've been working at getting our Youth Weekend for Glenshee (its in Feb) together and have ended up with a massive 50 young people and adults going away for the weekend!!! it's sooooo exciting! We've taken over the whole centre in Glenshee - it's like a dream! And quite a few of the young people are kids that don't go to church - they go to groups though, but it's a great opportunity to really share with them about God and his Love and Will for our lives. So i'm very excited about the whole thing!

I also spoke at my first Elevate last night... I was crazy nervous beforehand... but it was cool... Folks seemed to be listening and seemed to get what i was saying - so i'm happy.. More experience under the belt eh? LOL.

Anyway - i suppose i should go and get some work done... Hopefully i won't be quite so bad at updating in the future... LOL...

Tuesday's visit to the Hospital...
Well as i mentioned in my last post I was at the hospital on Tuesday morning... Basically the doc looked at my results and said that from what he could see it looked like i had indeed had optic neuritis behind my right eye... which accounts for the disturbed vision etc when this whole thing started off... got to go back again in 6 months... so we'll see...

Other than that it's been an extremely busy week... am knackered. Have had a meeting every day this week so far. Not tomorrow though... will do some prep, but nothing else... just me time. Just me sleeping and chilling out. Then Saturday will have more chilling and then cooking a meal for a couple of friends coming over at night... should be fun =)

Am going to WIG tonight... that the impact bible study group - that should be good. Am quite looking forward to that... am going coz i'm taking a 'newbie' from my church along... she's coming on mission with us for the first time this year... so it's all really exciting.

BTW... i will at some point post more about Glenshee with some pics... when i have the energy to do so that is...

current complaint is that my wisdom tooth is being really sucky :( really sore :(

soooo tired...
i am sooooo tired this morning... the thing that eventually got me out of bed despite my alarm going off at 8:30am was a phonecall on my mobile from one of the leaders for this weekend *heh* Ah well am up now... Got loads to be doing today - i haven't even packed yet!!!!!! *eeek*
Looking forward to it though... the kids were so hyper last night! and that's the older ones!!!!! lol. I'm sure it'll be a good weekend, in fact i have no doubt in my mind that it will...
Prayers would be appreciated though!

Right i should go and get things ready or it'll be time to go and I won't be ready!

and so it goes on...
Ach well it just never stops... damage control, compromise, prep and more prep (oh and cleaning) has been my way of things today so far... feels like i haven't stopped (except when i watched neighbours and then lay down on the couch to watch 'doctors'). But yeh. What joy... And so it goes on... *heh* Will put the dinner into the oven for dad soon... Meanwhile i need to make sure the flat is clean enough for visitors tonight... Am off to GB for doing actions songs with the wee explorers (P1-P3's) and then doing a session on friendships with the brigaders (s1-s6) for their spiritual badgework (which i was up doing last night until 1am *ick*), and then its straight back to the flat for a meeting at 8:30pm - this is our final leaders meeting before our weekend away with the young people to Glenshee next weekend... Just last bits of info etc, and prayer. Lots of it.

So yeh. Feeling just a tad busy if i'm honest. And sore. The dull ache is there with avengence today.

you know, i think i'm managing to grow my nails again without them splitting every two seconds... i'm very happy... they've been naff since the summer... *grins*

I've got an insane amount of work on at the moment... I could so easily freak out right now... but i won't. If anyone so much as hints that i'm apparently not working enough hours at the AGM this year I may in fact scream, or pass out because my blood pressure hits the roof... or just laugh *lol*...

Anyway - i should go and make sure that at least the toilet, hall and living room are acceptable for visitors... I really don't see the dining room making the grade before i have to leave... Its rather a bomb-site at the moment... dad has done well not to make sarky comments... he must realise that i'm stressed *heheheh*

Glenshee
Am really quite tired today... took me a while to persude myself to get up... Heads been a lot better since yesterday though... Not good as it has been in the past, but much better after those tests on Wednesday - seems they really aggravated my head. But yeh, have to get my head down to some prep for our Glenshee youth weekend today... =) Am quite looking forward to it... am slightly concerned that it'll completely wreck me, but i know my limits and will be sticking to them!

This is the Compass Christian centre in Glenshee... Where we shall be spending the weekend *grins* is looking good! There's loads of activities i have to say... There's like 3 3 hour sessions and then a 2 hour session of activities over the weekend, so that's the most part what we'll be doing... I can pretty guarantee that the yp will be wrecked by the time we get back!!! (as well as the leaders of course *wink*)

But yeh i'm looking forward to it now... this time in 2 weeks i'll be doing some random activity like crate climing or wall climing *hehe* scary biscuits... we apparently gained another 2 yp who have decided their coming now too which is good... =) I'm just hoping that everyone gels together... my real hope is that everyone leaves feeling as though they belong and have had a worthwhile experience (apart from the activities)... I hope the teaching is helpful... to both those who are Christians and those who aren't, and those who are sitting on the fence.

Prayer for all of this would be more than be welcome!

Shattered...
Had a really good weekend... the conference was miles better than i thought it was going to be (yes i was having pessimistic tendancies about it before i went) and it was helpful and inspiring, and yeh, it was good... am hopeful that the church will also encourage other youth leaders to go next time...

It's been manic trying to catch up since though... *eeek* which kinda sucks if i'm honest. But it's ok really...
today especially was just prep prep prep followed by work all night... and i mean all night... 6:30pm - 11pm... craziness... but it was a good night though so i'm not going to complain, and I feel that Glenshee is soooo much more organised now... so yeh. Happier. Am still knackered though... and plenty to be getting on with tomorrow...

am sleepy...
