Well... I'm just back from ATTEMPTING to walk Abbie. The pavements here in Bishopbriggs are completely appalling. I almost fell countless times before getting only a couple of hundred yards up the road and deciding that if i wanted to continue today without a cast on one limb or other than i should probably cut my losses and go back to the flat.
It would appear that East Dunbartonshire council have yet to discover the "pavement gritter"...
I wonder how many lawsuits they've had filed against them... if the answer is none, then thats just pure jamminess.
And of course the sad thing is that so many of the older members of our community are scared enough going out in the cold and snow etc this time of year... isn't it about time the council started making it easier for them 'n not harder?! An elderly person shouldn't have to hide in their home just because of the season. The ways and means to help them continue to get about ARE out there... so why on earth aren't they being used?!
OK so i got moaned at a bit for not updating this for a few months when I was at home over Christmas... so here it goes.
needless to say, i'm cold. like actually sitting in my living room in Bishopbriggs with the wee gas fire on with a big hoodie on (hood up) with socks AND furry socks, and my fleecy dressing gown wrapped around my legs.... despite all of that my feet are cold. my hands are cold, my nose is cold. Get the point? its COLD! Meanwhile Abbie is on her beanbag beside me completely comfortable and unaware (and sound asleep, no surprise there then)... oh to have a nice thick furry coat like she has!
But yeh... so... Was at home in Kemnay for a fortnight over Christmas. Got back to the Briggs on Monday... but the big news around at the moment is the 'cold snap' we're currently in... hence the fact that i'm COLD! BUt yeh... it started snowing the day before I went north before CHristmas... and bottom line is that it's never left. We've not really had any more snow here in Bishopbriggs over the past few days... but its so unbelievably cold that the snow is hanging about (which is crazy, that never happens in the city!), not that that is having an affect on life... the yp are still at school much to their annoyance LOL.
But back home in Kemnay is another story... The schools haven't made it back after their Christmas break yet... they've had an INSANE amount of snow...
That... would be Hollie, Abbie's doggy sister. AS you can see she's struggling a bit to move through the snow its THAT deep... and that was last night... they've had even more snow since then.
NOw I know that ultimately the extreme amounts of snow some parts of the country are having is ultimately a bit of a pain and causes a lot of problems... but still. I'd like some more please??????
Anyway I think i'm perhaps going to go first-footing some friends before some work and then perhaps wig tonight... =)
Yes so... it's been a while... so this will potentially be a rather large post... so beware.
The last couple of weeks as you may have guessed have been excessively busy, like almost to stupid to be sane busy... but it's over and I have survived, and I have God to thank for that along with my wonderful team at Kenmure who whenever I've asked them to do something they've done it fabulously well without much complaint XD
So lets go back to the beginning... the 27th-29th of March was our Mission reunion weekend down in troon... you may not have picked this up before now but for the last couple of year Kenmure have had a big presence on the mission team which leads childrens and youth work down in Troon at the end of the summer.Last year was my first year of properly co-leading and was a fab year! We'd been trying to get a date in the diary that suits to the Troon lot and Kenmure for aaaaaages (since like last September!) but this was the weekend we got! Was a fab weekend again of fun and silliness as well as prayer and bible study and seeking God's plan for the future. At one point Mack and I decided that it would be fun to have some gingerbread men to decorate for supper one night after the youthwork! Was great fun lol - the guys on the team seemed to enjoy it too! LOL. I even made one for Ron the minister at the church... i can assure you that his gingerbread man looked very much like him once i was finished decorating it! LOL! So yes... a great weekend... but also one which saw a lot of staying up late and then ending up rather shattered... When we got home on the Sunday afternoon we then also walked into having to do an Elevate event - that's a whole other kettle of fish though.
So yes... that was last weekend... However, this weekend has been interesting too! As part of the ministry in Kenmure we're always keen to look at ways which we can help young people to help those less fortunate than themselves... help them be more aware of world issues which we can all-so-readily become deaf or apathetic to, sometimes even sheltered from... One of our ways of doing this is to do a 24 hour event which is sponsored for a Charity and get someone to come along and tell us more about the work that that charity is doing. So this year we again supported LUWERO http://luwerocommunityministries.com/ and had a guy from our BB who visited the project last summer come along a share a bit about it all... It was great having him come and share - hopefully it also gave the young people more of an understanding and passion to raise money for it. This year however the event was 'lose one of your senses for 24 hours'... Some tried to be deaf, but it didn't work so well that way so we ended up with some losing speech, some lost their sense of space (in other words they were tied to someone else for the duration of the event) and other fasted (didn't have food). So it was a lonnnnnnng 24 hours. But definitely worth it. I'm hoping that we'll have a healthy sized cheque to send away by the end of the month. We had lots of activities, crafts, big hall games, computer games, a prayer room with interactive prayer stations, services throughout, and an acoustic worship session... then at the end of the 24 hours we broke the fast etc together with a 'meal' of soup, bread and cheese with some sweeter stuff too to give those who were fasting a boost... But it was knackering... After we eventually finished cleaning the church for the service this morning (no one had a CLUE that we'd had the event this weekend coz the church was so clean and tidy *grins*) i eventually got home at about 7pm (I had gone to the church to set up on Friday at 2pm so altogether that means i was at the church for 29 hours straight!) needless to say after a brief time checking emails etc I flaked out on the bed and didn't wake up until 3am at which point i realised that I had fallen asleep without getting changed first!!! That was soon sorted though and i got back into bed and slept right through till 10am this morning. It turns out that my mum had phone the flat AND texted me last night.. needless to say i heard neither. Thankfully Abbie was rather forgiving and let me sleep. Needless to say... IF you feel that you would like to support us, like i already mentioned it was a sponsored event... so please do sponsor me, or support LUWERO directly. It's definitely worth it! For just £15 a month you can sponsor and orphan so that they can go to school and get an education that they wouldn't otherwise receive. See thats one of the things we focused on this year... the fact that despite the current climate with everyone tightening their purse strings we are NOT in poverty. There are people a LOT worse of that us in the world, and it's about time we woke up and realised that and did something about that! Its not beyond us, so why do we act as though it is while we have our big cars and big houses and our constant need to by things that we don't actually need, but just because we want more, and more and more. Ok so i'll stop ranting - but you'll hopefully get the jist. =)
That aside I discovered a LOVELY park on Monday that I'd never been before and its just a 10 minute walk from the flat!!! It's sooo beautiful and Abbie loves it coz she gets to run about off the lead.. We went there on monday to explore a bit.. it's Springburn park which i knew was there but I'd never realised how big or how beautiful it was! Abbie loved it though - was just her cup of tea being able to run about off of the lead and see (and attempt to run after) the birds and squirrels... She did look at a Swan at one point but very quickly backed off when it started hissing at her LOL - what a clever dog she is!
But yeh... this afternoon since i didn't get to walk her yesterday (she was with Sheena and George while I was at the 24 hour event) I decided that a long walk in Springburn Park was in order... so off we went... When we got there i discovered that there were colour-coded trails... so today, we did the black trail which was 2 miles long!!! Was wonderful as it took us around most of the park...abbie even made a friend or two along the way lol... but while we were there we came across something rather cool!!! Ok so Abbie didn't think much about it, but I thought it was marvelous! You may remember me rambling on about Stargate SG-1 and perhaps Stargate Atlantis a few post back... well today we found a stargate in Springburn park... ok so it's not a REAL stargate (LOL) but it made me smile none-the-less!!! But just imagine even if it was... would be quite amusing that it would be found in Springburn park of all places LOL.
So anyway... This coming week it hopefully going to be a much quieter one that the previous few months... I plan to read... catch up on work stuff that has been neglected due to my rather busy work schedule, catch up with some friends before I go north for my holiday and the thing that i really hope to achieve, is that i'm hoping that i'll make it to ALL (or as much as is physically possible) of the Bishopbriggs Churches together holy week services. They've always had joint services, and i've even been involved in some of them at Kenmure, but i've never been able to attend them all, but because of the way things are working out this year I may just manage it since we don't have club running during the holidays! I've heard good things about some of them, so i'm hoping for good things!
but anyway... I shall love you and leave you all. My hope for you is that at this Easter season you will come to know and understand the sacrifice of Gods Son Jesus Christ in order to save you, and that you will have Joy in the fact that he rose again!!!
Today has been lovely... Abbie and I went for a nice long walk... had a short visit from our elder... the ASDA man paid a visit... I've been able to do lots of reading... It's been wonderful...
Planning to meet a friend for some dinner in town before bible study tonight in town too.. SO Abbie will get another short walk before i head off for that... She's currently out for the count on her bean bag lol... it was indeed a long walk *wink*
I suppose the rarity of complete days off certainly makes me more grateful for them!!! Just being able to relax a bit has been lovely!
Today has yet again been a long day... Started off taking Abbie her usual walk only to be greeted by a 'wee friend' up in the park on the hill behind Arnold Clark... This wee Jack Russell didn't seem to have an owner in sight... i carried on with abbie in our usual direction although he seemed to rather take a shine to abbie (she didn't like it at all - i ended up carrying her for most of the time after he joined us..)but by the time i got down to the main road, there was still no owner... So... i decided to walk back up to the top of the hill - of course he followed us... i walked back into the housing estate as i knew of at least one house with a jack russell, but that particular dog came barking at us as soon as we walked towards its house.. so it wasn't theirs. Still no sign of any owner. I should point out at this point that although the wee dude had a collar on he didn't have an id tag of any sort (take note dog owners please!!!!) if he had then i would happily have taken him back to his home... but no. (silly dog owner!!!) so - the dog is still at my heels (he really wanted to 'play' with abbie) i ended up deciding to walk down to the vets - to see if they could help. to be honest they weren't all that helpful - they wouldn't take the poor wee dude in - although they did scan him to see if he had a chip - he didn't (another note to dog owners - CHIP YOUR DOG!!!!!) so still no idea who the pooch belonged to - they suggested i take him to the police station... so i walk down there with the dog still at my heels... get to the police station only to be told by the officer that because they didn't have kennels they couldn't keep him until his owner turned up (by this time i was rather harassed) i have to say i dug my heels in. He told me that i could take him to the Kirkie police station - but by this time i have less than an hour before i had to be in town for a meeting for work, and obviously i didn't have a car to take the dog anywhere - and of course when i asked him if he could do that himself his reply was no. heh. so i remained digging my heels in - there was no way i was letting that dog out again next to a main road - that would be careless and reckless. Although tbh the officer didn't seem to see this. But eventually he got hold of a number for the dog warden (after MANY attempts i have to say - lazy man) and then proceeded to tell me that the Warden could either pick the dog up from my flat or the police station... of course i opted for the station - i wasn't intending to take the dog back to my flat! 15 mins he said it would take... 30 mins later and the lady eventually arrived... the police officer easily could have watched the dog - he watched me watching the dog often enough! But yeh... at least the dog is safe in a dog home... or perhaps home with its owner by now... and hopefully if that is the case the owner has learned their lesson and will intend to get the dog chipped!!!!
so a lesson to all pet owners out there: - Get your pet chipped!!!! - Make sure your pet always has it's id. tag on!!!!
The thing that i found sad was how difficult it was for me to make sure that the wee pooch was kept in safety while lost from its owner. I would hope that if i ever lost Abbie someone would be able to find somewhere safe for her to stay until i found her. it really saddened me that neither the Vet nor the Police were all that helpful (although the officer did kind of redeem himself in the end - kinda). I've had at least one friend who has lost a dog - not to the main road, but to the canal. It's not a fine situation to face... but why do they make these things so difficult?! doh!
Anyway - i shall stop ranting.. here endeth the tale of Jake (thats what i decided his name was LOL)... I hope that if he isn't already, that he'll be back with his owner soon. =)
So that was the majority of my morning - afternoon i had a meeting for mission reunion next weekend and tonight was a report to the Kirk Session followed by Elevate publicity stuff - it's been crazy - but i have a strange sense of satisfaction...
I'm glad I helped wee Jake out. I'd dread to think what could have happened to him otherwise.
Ok... so i've been back from Glenshee for almost 2 weeks now... i think i'm still recovering to be honest. I'm still knackered - but it was great... It was a lot harder than previous years - just coz moving 50 people about is surprisingly harder than 39 - you wouldn't think that an extra 10 people or so would make a difference, but it really did. heh.
We had a new activity this year - the centre had had a new zipwire installed since we were last their last February - ok so it wasn't completely my cup of tea (don't really like heights all that much) - but the young folks loved it and i even thought it was... well interesting. lol.
But yeh - the weekend teaching was based on changing the world... we had studies from the old testament and the new testament... and we even had Evan Almighty in to help us... lol. Challenging for us all.
One of my favourite things of the weekend though (well perhaps the aftermath of it) is that young folks who never usually go to church or anything are enthusiastic about God, and singing 'God songs' and trying to live for Him! One of the Fave songs over the weekend was 'Prince of Peace' which is the second song on the video below... the yp just love it - and they got to teach it to the church too who i have to say did a FAB attempt at it last sunday morning! So yes... another successfull weekend... but have a look at the video and see what you think for yourself?
That aside... Mum, Fi and Hollie are down for the weekend =) Mum 'n I just took the dogs out for a walk and I have to say that they are both out for the count - so i think mum and I are going to cut our losses and walk up the road to one of the local coffee shops for lunch and cake *grins* I have a meeting tonight though =( -sad times- but they're dog sitting so its all kl =) Hopefully i won't be tooooo late =)
Loooooook - we had snow!!!! I fear it may be gone by the morning however as it was kinda raining tonight when i got back from GB... But we've had snow none-the-less and the yp have loved it!
As you can see, Abbie also loved it!!! We had some snow last week... which left rather quickly... but on Sunday night we had loads of snow which fell over a couple of hours while we were at Elevate - needless to say, after the event finished the yp and leaders had a wonderful time having a massive snowball fight.. =D And i know that a lot of my yp have been out in the snow every day after school playing and sledging since... So yeh... all in all they've been having a wonderful time... Not quite the same amount of snow which is parr for the course in Kemnay - but a decent amount all the same.. Am hoping that we'll have a decent amount of snow etc for our youth weekend in Glenshee next weekend too which is looking likely... Going up the big hills for sledging and snow ball fights are often a highlight for many of the young people as they just don't get snow as deep etc here in B'briggs. BUt yes.. it's been a busy while of late... I think Abbie is managing to keep up with me, just... LOL... We were 'child-sitting' for a couple of the parents at church on Friday evening after the BB, so that was good... although by 1am Abbie just wanted to sleep - bless her... she is very cute when she's sleeping tho LOL.
I was at GB this evening... was really good. One of the officers and I are doing the Spiritual Badge work at the moment and it's been really encouraging. The girls are really responding to what we're doing... I discovered at the beginning of the series that somehow 4 of the girls had managed to be in the Brigader's section (S1-S6) without bibles... this usually doesn't happen coz they all get bibles when they go from the Explorer section (P1-3) to the Junior section (P4-7)... but these girls hadn't been explorers and for some reason it had never come to light before that they didn't have bibles which surprised me somewhat... So i managed to get them some youth bibles and have been really pleased to see them remembering to take them for the sessions each week and using them... hopefully that'll continue!
It's certainly all fun and games in the land of Linda...
Right ok... prepare for a BIG update and I shall tell you lots of stuff while i sit here rather achey and sore from a bad cold, while also listening to my 'most relaxing classics' CD which was one of my rather useful presents this year... *grins*
Yes... so first of all... i would like to report a Crime Scene *hehe* I got home from work last night to be greeted by Phil who told me that there had been a murder *eeek* here is the evidence as it was... The murder victim went by the name of 'Cuddles' and was a long loved reindeer and play mate to Abbie... The evidence seems to suggest that poor Cuddles was mauled as the attacker tried to rip off his arm and rip out his squeeky heart. Abbie would appear to be the prime suspect, she however sat and looked up with sad eyes and her cute look on her face pleading that it wasn't her... Case still pending. *lol*
That aside, I mentioned that Phil was don for a couple of days... you would know that by simply seeing the bomb site which is currently my flat. It is more of a mess than usual. Much more of a mess. It seems that Phil is not used to the cooler climates of a flat like mine in the winter *hehe* I have had the heating on, honest... *lol* But that aside... you have to admit, this it quite a cute picture... *heheh*
But yes... Christmas was indeed lovely... and how could i forget that it was our pooches first Christmas!!!!! Admittedly once we were up and opening our sacks Abbie slept inbetween mum and dad on the couch and wasn't all that interested, but at the same time she got many nice toys and treats so she was a very happy pooch!!! She even has a portrait up in the flat now courtesy of her Uncle Phil, and also has a certificate showing that she has a Masters of Affection university Degree... see I told you she was a clever pooch!!!!!
ah i see to be going in reverse order... so i shall continue that way... before Christmas I had Sheena and Geo over for an afternoon to celebrate Sheena's 'almost 50th Birthday' - She was 50 on the 29th Dec, but obviously I wasn't going to be in Glasgow, so I decided to do something special for her before I went home... and what was that something special? Well a big parcel (huge) which had 50 small parcels inside... all numbered with little clues on the outside. Mum helped me put it together, and it was a lot of fun buying random stuff to put in it as well as wrapping it and of course the BEST bit, watching Sheena unwrap it all *grins* It was good fun... I even got a wee cake and wrote 'Happy almost Birthday Sheena'. So yeh... It was mostly random fun stuff like stripey socks (which i know she has worn - snaps for Sheena!) smelly stuff, useful practical stuff... so yeh was nice.
Anyway all in all Christmas was good. Its just a shame i'm now full of the cold and feeling so rotten. Have to get better for next week though... lots happening before I'm at a conference on Friday and then of course the week after I go to London with Heather and we're going to see her brother Steve and also see Joseph and his technicoloured dream coat *yays* it'll be soooo much fun!
*big cheesy grin*
Anyway - hope that was enough of an update for you... I should probably go and make myself some dinner now... heh.
Well thats me back in Glasgow... Arrived to various packages 'hiding' under my front door mat which ammused me somewhat... I wonder how long they've been lying there... *heh* One of them was one of the packages which has been sent again by Amazon coz the Royal Mail is pants and 3 of my packages have walked in the post. Should have arrived 2-3 weeks ago and haven't. And one of them was a 'sign for' package which seems to have completely disappeared. See... Royal Mail is rubbish. Someone said to me the other day that the Royal Mail has no right to have the word 'Royal' in the title. I think I agree. It's just been one thing after another with them for me recently - the rubber bands lying all over the streets aside.
Anyway - people have been asking me for a 'wish' list... so here is something along that lines....
All 'boring' things I'm afraid... + itunes voucher (I tend to download random singles a lot - so that would be practical) + ooo - going through a CSI phase at the moment - so CSI DVDs would be welcome. (Currently borrowing a friends season 2 - so not that one please) + one of those wee cheap dvd players for my room... + Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - have been holding off getting that coz i thought it would be an easy pressie for someone to get me *wink* + one of those big Laundry hamper things. I've thought about getting one from au naturale but never have a car, so that would be pretty difficult to get home. Would just be useful coz i only tend to put the washing machine on once a week and Abbz has had a tendancy to nick socks etc out of my existing little basket (although she's not doing that so much anymore - but it would be useful none the less) + Leona Lewis' new album would be nice... + I'd love to get myself a new pair of trainers - but i guess thats more of a money, then i'll get them kind of thing *lol*
*hehe* well those are just some thoughts since folks keep asking. So yeh. there ya go.
Anyway - Abbz was very sleepy again tonight - i think having a few days running about with Hollie has obviously tired her out *lol* have tried putting her bed in the hall though - hoping that it will be a wee bit warmer for her so that she's not gonna be whinning in the middle of the night [FYI mum, i've put my clothes bag (which i haven't emptied yet *heh*) against the door so that she can't body flop against the door to get through in the middle of the night *hehe*]
But yeh... it was a good few days at home. Was meant to catch up on paperwork, but it was much better just kicking back and catching up with family. Highlight was defo hanging out with my Grandma and Granda on my Grandma's birthday yesterday *grins* we ate out twice! *lol* and I went for visit my great aunt Annie too, and saw my cousins for a wee while too. So that was nice. Am looking forward to getting back in a couple of weeks for my proper 2 week break for Christmas *grins* 24 sleeps!!!!!!!!! *grins* (aye till Christmas, not till i get home *wink*)
Anyway - I've done all of my prep for tomorrow morning. We're looking at David 'n Johnothan, and the whole theme of friendship. Should be good. I'm working with the younger ones, so nothing toooo heavy *grins*. Am doing Anathallo tomorrow night too. I haven't finished my prep for that yet... But the thoughts are all coming together in my head. It's on Discernment tomorrow night. As you may have guessed Anathallo is a bit more indepth *wink* It'll be interesting though. Have got a film clip in mind which will hopefully get the discussion flowing. It'll be a good conclusion to our term as we've been looking at various Christian life issues surrounding the image of the 3 legged stool. (the 3 legs of good Christian living being, Fellowship - being with other Christians, learning together etc - the Bible - reading it, getting to know it, trying to understand it and apply it to our lives - and Prayer - getting to know God and making sure your relationship is good with Him. All good and important parts to 'succesfull' Christian living. So hopefully it'll go well and will continue to help the young people - all sorted. The great thing about Anathallo is that it allows for accountablity for the young people without being overbearing. It's good.
Anyway - it's late, and i'll be up early walking the pooch before church, so i should head off...
today, after doing some errands this morning and Abbie had had her early afternoon snooze, we went a walk along the canal... thankfully i had the car so it didn't mean walking there first (which as a round trip would easily be 2+ hours) It was nice. Quiet and nice. And its really deceptive down there... you could actually believe that you're in the middle of the countryside and not on the frindges of a major scottish city *heh* But today... because there were no other dogs about and it was relatively safe, Abbie had her first adventure without being on the lead the whole time... She was really good... never wandered very far away from me and always came back when called. in fact there were points you would have thought she was looking at me wanting to be back on the lead... suppose she maybe feels more secure that way *hehe*
But yus... was nice. She and I should do that more often me thinks =)
Sorry for lack of updates... have been rather tired and busy of late so not really managed to settle down to update on here... have had a couple of very lasy mornings though... some more sleeping... some bible reading and some tv watching... so yeh... that seems to have done the trick for now...
randomly... QVC had their 'countdown to Christmas' day today which is rather random... makes me want a big mulled wine yankee candle though... *heh* actually i'd really like to go to a shop that stocks them and smell all the different ones *hehehe*
Anyyyyyyyyway... abbie had another 'first' this weekend.... she went on her first ramble with the group from church... we were up in Dunkeld and it was a 4-5 mile walk... i thought she would get tired and was all set for carrying her... I even tried a couple of times but she was having none of it... she LOVED it and still had plenty of energy to run about like a mad hatter when we got home (after a 'small' snooze in the car on the way back of course... *heheh* But my plan is to keep her going on rambles as long as the weather and my energy keeps up... its going to be good for her to keep fit :) no lazy dog is gonna be living here!!!!! Isn't she such a poser though? *heh*
That aside... for those of you who don't know... Grey's Anatomy rocks. Like seriously. The sooner season 3 comes out the better...... I haven't bought ER 8 yet *shock* abd ER 9 comes out in a few weeks *even more shock* oh well....
Abbie is wonderful. lol. She came to work with me on Thursday and had a great time with the young people. They were out doing a photo scavanger hunt, so she went out with one of the groups. To say that she was tired when we got back doesn't even come close! *lol* Needless to say... she was flaked out on the cushion before long *heheh* She's been doing really well actually... working into my sleep pattern very well!!! *hehe* Hasn't made a peep until almost 9am in the last two days *grins*
But yeh... I ache all over. *meh* Was at a fundraiser ceilidh last night... it was good, but i'm suffering for it today. Well more than usual anyways. I'm actually currently procrastinating from doing prep for tomorrow which i really should be doing... i now have some ideas... but i need time for them to mull around my head before i do anything further. Someone else is speaking at bible class, although I know that they won't do the whole session, so have no idea how long i will need to fill. I'm thinking i'm gonna do something brief on the importance of our bibles and actually using them etc though... we'll see. Also got stuff to do for tomorrow night, but thats probably best left until tomorrow afternoon anyways. We're having a discussion with the discipleship group on what the church is... we've invited edlers too... should be interesting. Really need wisdom in how to guide it though... so prayer wouls muchly be appreciated.
hmmmm. Man i'm tired. Am out again tonight though. This time its thanksgiving and i'm taking a couple of the yp with me... *heheh* hopefully it'll be good. There's been a lot of unrest about bigger impact this year coz the new MC has changed it, which is a shame i admit, although i understand why he's done what he has... just perhaps not the best timing. *hmmm* But anyway, i'm hoping that won't taint what i hope to be a good evening with friends. Need to try and do some baking for that. it'll be timing permitting though. Am going out to tesco soon, and then picking the yp up just after 5 sometime. *heh*
oooo... abbie's trying to get comfy on her bean bag... *hehe* best £26 i ever spent. She loves it.
Oh man... was watching this program on tv this morning... it was called something like 'my sweet 16' or something, and it was basically about all these rich girls who got their parents to fund like $200,000 parties for them and like get 'celebrities' to go to them 'n stuff... one of the girls was like 'yeh it was nothing special, pretty much how i expected' and i'm like 'what?!' some folk are just sooooo unbelieveably self-consumed. but yus... i should go now... am going to tesco soon.
Well i got back to Glasgow on Monday after having a very nice week or so up north with the family... It was good to catch up with folks from church, both kemnay and AoG, and family, both kemnay and peterhead etc, and just relax a bit not having to think about my work here at all. I feel very much recharged in that respect. Although today i have to blitz some admin stuff seeing as I don't have Abbie here to go after all my paper work as i sort it out on the floor! Talking about Abbie... she's getting sooooo big! oh my... i'm sure i'll be seeing quite a difference in her when i get her back in a couple of weeks time! I miss her so much already! Hopefully she's being a good girl for her grandma... Oh yes... my mother who claims she dislikes dogs has already had Hollie (Abbie's sister) for a week, and has since had Abbie, and appears to be enjoying herself, and is being a true model of a grandma to the both of them, with treats for being good girls to providing a lap for them both to sleep on... awwwwww. Abbie just LOVES playing with her sister Hollie. They play fight lots, and i'm sure they'll miss each other again when abbie comes back to glasgow... I'm sure it'll be a great reunion in October when i'm back again. We got her a new bean bag coz she liked her sisters sooooo much. But yeh....... after a long walk this is what happens... she's flaked out on her new bean bag, and nothing you can do will wake her up again *lol* Apparently she is being a good girl for her grandma which is good. i dunno, maybe i'll get to see her at some point since I won't be getting her back for about 4 weeks *sads*
Anyway... today has been quite eventful so far..... I got a parcel and when i went to the door to get it I discovered that there were 2 pidgeons flying about at the top of the stairwell unable to get out again. Quite a traumatic experience actually coz they flapped about lots. Kinda reminded me of that film 'the birds' *eeeeeeeeeeek* So eventually I mustered up the courage to go and push the window open to see if they would be clever enough to go out the window at the top of the stairwell, they were - eventually. But in doing that accidentally got locked out of that flat *doh* so I ended up going and getting keys from Sheena 'n Geo to get back in. So i've only just got back from that. *wooop* ah well... who said life was dull?!
yes... thunder. Abbie jumped. once. and then wasn't bothered *lol*
then she decided to have a go at the phone cables again.... (first time size last friday mind) so i told her she was a bad girl and told her to go to her bed.. but she chose her box. so that's where she currently is *lol* She's getting quite comfy by the looks of things.
She's been good though... had her second jag at the beginning of the week... so as of Sunday she can go out for walks... no that she walks very well on the lead... we'll see. Am thinking about taking her to a puppy training class after the summer. We'll see.
This week has been somewhat quieter than last week... but it still feels as though it's been a manic week. Am very much looking forward to my holiday. Tonight i'm planning to just chill 'n watch some tv... perhaps have a bath...we'll see.
It's been a busy few days... I had a really good birthday! Church stuff was great, and i went and brough Abbie home *grins* it's amusing at times trying to get her to understand where and when to go to the loo *heh* but last night she pooped for the first time IN the garden... *yay* (every other trip to the garden previous to that resulted in her getting so excited about the grass etc that as far as pooing etc went, it was pointless *heh*)
But yes... Isn't she sweet???? Dad's completely fallen for her too *lol* He thinks she looks like sad sam *grins* i LOVED that dog when i was little!!! *hehehe* Anyway... i'm in the middle of doing a big clean at the moment before I have the young people over tonight for coffee morning prep... Soooooo much to do before Saturday! *eeeeeek* it'll happen though... and i'm sure we'll achieve our goals.....
